OAR

The year is 2000. Thomas and Amy are attending Lynchburg College in VA. A little known "college" band named O.A.R. has a song out that only the the coolest kids listen and sing to at the top of their lungs at frat parties at 3am. Fast forward 9 years; through 6 concerts (including several FREEBIES at local small college auditoriums).....to the year 2009. O.A.R unfortunately has become a little more mainstream and a few songs have hit the radio. Great for the success of the band, I am sure they are richer now! But not so great for that intimate feeling we had years ago listening to the greatest live band ever! Anyway....this concert in Daniel's Island in Charleston, SC was another awesome one. Besides.....the true O.A.R. fans know what Hey Girl, 3am and Poker are all about!! :-)

1983 Talking Cabbage Patch LuLu was saving for Sadie! Came with a real wooden official Cabbage Patch crib and Playpen for dolls!

Even Jeff got in on the dance action!

Check out my mom's double fisting....the woman hasn't had a drink in 5 years.....it was an AWESOME night! LOL

One Tight Fam Yo

Bridal Party

Once again......it has been quite some time! My new goal is a once a month post. Our lives are quite jam packed full of adventures lately and this blog unfortunately is the last thing on my list!!
update.......
Papa and Bapshi came down in July and we had a great time with them. We enjoyed using their hotel pool with Sadie and we had a GREAT time going out to dinner. (i pretended it was Bapshi's birthday and she got dessert and barbecue sauce...LOL....it was hysterical!)

Tom is still enjoying soccer. He plays on two leagues...YMCA and SuperGoose.

Sadie is growing like a weed. She can sing Frera Jacques completely in French word for word. AS well as her ABC's, Row Row Row Your Boat, AND Itsy Bitsy Spider. She is a genious I tell you! She is 19 months old. She counts to five and can count by two's up to eight. Her DR says to keep her engaged and don't let her get bored! Tom and I are going to order that My Baby Can Read system and get her reading. It is an amazing system. Children can read at 11 months old. It is truly something to see and hear!
I still work part time at the hospital and am still a clinical instructor for a local college here in Savannah; which I IMMENSELY love doing!! I like the money too! (cant lie)

LuLu went back to MA this past week. Man, do we miss her like CRAZY! Can't wait till her big move down here in October! She will be the offical Sadie Sitter. LuLu and Sadie are so tight, it's precious to see them together! While she was down here, our family back up north may have suspected us trying to "off" her! LOL She fell, got shingles, and was seen in the ER twice! What an unlucky three months!

Just got back from CT for my best friend Alison's wedding! She married an amazing man named Matt and I hope they have LOTS OF BABIES! :-) It was a gorgeous New England summer day.....the whole trip itself was amazing.....I wish I lived there SOO BAD! :-( We stopped by my Grandfather's grave, ate at our fav place Friendly's, hung out at LuLu's, saw Tuff Man Scoop, went shopping for polish pottery, etc etc etc.

I have also started my MSN which is going smoothly so far. A little stressful at times, but can't wait for it to be over with! I just keep reminding myself it will be SOOOO worth it!

ENJOY THE PICTURES! I know you will!

Update

So my friend Amy has inspired me to FINALLY put up an update on my blog. We have been so busy that I haven't had a minute to sit and think.

Great grandma LuLu is in from MA and Sadie is loving every moment of it. I think she really loves the 100% devotion! LuLu doesn't have to stop and do laundry or dishes or cook....like Mommy, and Sadie doesn't quite understand why Mommy has to do those things! Today is actually LuLu's 83rd birthday and we are all going out to dinner tonight to celebrate.

I applied and was accepted to Liberty University's Masters of Science in Nursing Program! I will be pursuing the Nurse Educator Track. I came home from work a few nights ago and Tom surprised me with a brand new awesome laptop! (actually typing on it now.....no pictures on this blog because I need to download all the photos to it....) I start end of August.

I am now working part-time at the hospital and recently accepted a job as a Clinical Instructor for nursing students at a college here in Savannah! It is two days a week, from 0630-1630, and I start in July and end in September. I am VERY excited about this endeavor!!!

Lots more exciting things coming our way this summer...so stay tuned! Papa and Bapshi are coming down in July and we are all staying in a beach home together.....my godson JC turns ONE and we will party with the lil man in July.......my best friend Alison is getting married in August and we will be in CT for that.....Grandma Kern is planning a visit soon......etc etc etc

My thyroid is basically dead. Meaning I have no metabolism and no energy and no matter what I did...the weight wasn't budging. I had an appointment with my Endocrinologist and I have started taking Synthroid. He didn't want to start me on it, hoping that this "postpartum hypothyroidism" would correct itself. Alas, too much time has passed and it is no longer being considered "postpartum", rather just plain ole hypothyroidism and he said it was time to start the medication. Without it....my body would slowly kill itself ! Hypothyroidism can cause infertility and miscarriages. Tom and I want to be able to have more children so it is very important to be on top of this. Synthroid is very safe to continue during pregnancy but you just have to increase the dose.

Tom and I joined the Y and we have a trainer named John. So far Tom is doing EXCELLENT! He has lost over 10 pounds in three weeks and all of his lab levels were normal from his MD visit and he improved his A1C!!! GO TOM!!!! (for those who dont know...he is a type one diabetic....childhood)
I on the otherhand, have lost only six pounds so far, but feel fantastic. I am fitting into some scrubs that used to be tooooo tight! Now that I have started Synthroid, the weight should be coming off with all of my efforts. Can't wait!

That's the update! Stay tuned for Sadie pictures......:-)

Trip to CT

TUFFY!

Sadie and Amy just returned from an amazing trip to CT where Sadie was spoiled by much love and attention from Papa and Bapshi! Tom was on a business trip in NC...but brought lots of gifts back for his two favorite girls that he missed sooo much.
While in CT, Amy and Sadie got to go see LuLu and Tuffy aka Tuff Man Scoop in MA for a day. Amy and Sadie also got to spend time with Ali and Matt and Jenn! They spent a day in Hartford, a day in Polishtown, New Britain, got to enjoy sundaes at Friendly's and a homemade pizza by Papa, lots of walks and fresh air in the beautiful New England weather, and many other adventures. Sadie was once again an excellent traveler and slept on both plane rides!
Now that they are all back together in Savannah.....Sadie came down with another left ear infection. It's a sign we are not meant to live here in Savannah! She is always sick down here and she barely goes to daycare! It has to be allergies or something.
Next week Jenn and David and Rob come down to Savannah for several days to see us and enjoy the warm weather! Can't wait!

More Pics from Weekend in VA

Congrats Tom!

It has been some time since our last blog. Lots has happened! Sadie was hospitalized for the second time in her short time here on Earth this past week. She fell violently ill with projectile vomiting, diarrhea, fever, etc. It was odd. It all came down in like two hours. We rushed her to her DR and she was hospitalized immediately. She was dehydrated and needed IV fluids and antibiotics for the bacterial GI infection she had. She vomited ALL over, I mean ALL ALL ALL over the waiting room. It was AWFUL and I felt horrible, but the staff was wonderful about it including her DR who made jokes about how it really is no big deal. :-) That made me feel better. So Sadie spent two days in the hospital recovering and then she was back to her normal self just like that! THANK GOD That poor little girl has had EVERYTHING. But her DR actually reminded me that it's not such a bad thing...when she starts kindergarten, she will be less likely to be sick than most children. We are getting it all over with early. Thank you to everyone who lent your prayers and thoughts for her!
We just returned from an AMAZING weekend in Lynchburg, VA for Tom's MBA graduation from Liberty University. The speech made by Ben Stein was AMAZING. I recommend listening to it online. I am SOO proud of him and watching him graduate really inspired me to want to go back myself for my MSN. We stayed with our wonderful friend (more like family) Auntie Lauren and Uncle Keith was there all weekend as well. Grandpa Nordman and Bapshi came down from CT too! We all enjoyed eachothers company. Thank you to everyone who sent a Congratulations card/thought!! And thanks to Auntie Lauren, Uncle Keith and Grandpa and Bapshi for all the Sadie gifts~:-)
While we were in VA, of course we had to drive by the old house.....wow...they have let it GO. It made me soo sad. It was very overgrown. We visited our old co-workers as well. It was GREAT to see everyone! It made us realize just how many special people we had/have in our lives. I must admit I wished while we were there that I didnt have to leave to come back to Savannah......VA felt like home to me....:-(
On a happier note, Sadie and I leave next week to fly to CT to stay with Grandpa and Bapshi for a week while Tom is on another buisness trip in NC. And just a week after that....Great Grandma LuLu is coming to stay with us in Savannah for two months!!! :-)
